About our School : Ethos
With small classes, an enviable ratio of qualified staff to pupils, an innovative Dyslexia Programme, links to the National Association of Gifted Children, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the English Speaking Board and other schools in the group, Kingswood is well placed to respond to the educational needs of a wide range of academic abilities and potential. Opportunities are provided for all to take part in the performing arts, team games and public speaking. Children learn to present themselves well through sporting, social and cultural activities. These activities are essential ingredients of the "Kingswood Experience".
We have high hopes for all our pupils and do our best to make sure they leave us as accomplished and caring persons who value themselves and others and are happy and confident to take on the many academic, personal and social challenges which they will undoubtedly encounter as they get older. We therefore foster consideration for others, good manners and opportunities for service both in and out of school.
We employ specialist teachers for Sport, Music, Drama and Ballet and our Special Needs Coordinator uses all available expertise to include and help all children who clearly have tremendous potential to achieve success. We value a blend of traditional and modern teaching styles that respond to children's needs and we expect all pupils to take advantage of the continuous educational opportunities the school provides from the Nursery to leaving at the age of eleven. The importance of good examination results is recognised and thorough preparation is given without confining the curriculum to these needs alone. The school has had an excellent record of examination successes and most children are destined to enter leading independent or grammar schools.
I hope this website will give you some idea of what has become known as the "Kingswood Experience". For more information please contact us to receive a copy of the new prospectus. However, there is no real substitute for a visit during the school day or an Open Day when we can meet, show you the school and discuss your specific needs.
With Best Wishes
Neil Shaw, Head teacher
